The Adams Family and the Super Tinter

The Adams family loved the cold and gloomy weather. They purchased a home in Colorado in early Spring. They would return in October and spend, what they thought would be cold, snowy months with dark skies, in their new “Winter home”. They were not ready for the scary situation they encountered upon returning.

Their drapery was ruined, their hardwood floors were faded and looked like a disaster. Their leather couch was cracking and faded in certain spots and their heating and cooling bills were more expensive than they had ever been

This frightened them because they had never encountered such destruction from the sun in all the other States they had lived in. They did not realize that in the Winter months in Colorado, even though it is cold, the UV damage is even more intense. The UV rays hit you directly and then bounce off the snow and hit you again.  They needed a solution, FAST!

They decided to search around for a professional “sun fixer”. They had never had this type of experience with the sun so they were not sure what to call the professional they were looking for. They stumbled upon All American Window Tinting, Inc.  They had never heard of window tint for home windows and it seemed like a strange solution. After reading through AAWT’s website and researching the accreditations they held. They knew this company, AAWT could perform a sort of tintorcist on their windows and help beat that evil ball of fire in the sky.

Enter  Super Tinter. He holds a Master Solar Control Accreditation. He is a native to Colorado and has decades of experience in beating the Ball of Fire in the Sky. The first thing he needed to do was evaluate their home. Window Tint is not one size fits all. Each unique situation requires different types of window tint. Super Tinter needed to make sure he understood what their goals were.

All areas in the home needed UV protection. Some areas needed privacy and some glare reduction. UV protection is easy. The majority of the window tint options AAWT offers reduce 99% of UVA and UVB rays. The rest of the goals would require a unique solution.

For the privacy option, the Adams family liked the ghost-like appearance of the decorative white frost and opaque window films. There was an array of patterns and textures to choose from and they could be easily removed if the Adams family styles changed.  The decorative film options would be perfect for their bathrooms and closets where they wanted the daylight to come in but to eliminate the view from prying eyes! Plus they could finally get rid of those worn out mini blinds!

Glare and heat reduction would be a little more tricky. They had an HOA that had very strict guidelines for window tint applications. This was not shocking to the Super Tinter. He was the owner of the best window tint company in Colorado and a master at his trade! He knew high-performance Ceramic and Spectrally Select window films were the answer. With no shiny appearance on the outside, they would still reduce the harsh sunlight to help protect their interior furnishings plus cut down enough of the sunlight to stop it from hitting their TV screen.  They were pleasantly shocked by the results!
Its been a year since Super Tinter heard from the Adams family. They haven’t had any scary situations since the windows were tinted. They are now true believers in the magic of window film. The moral of the story is that your home and valuable possessions should not have to be afraid of the sun’s dastardly ghost that haunts your home during the day.  Call All American Window Tinting at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate.  You don’t have to sacrifice your wallet or have your savings spooked because our prices won’t scare you!

Window Film for Office Building's in Colorado

Keeping your office staff happy and comfortable is a key element in any successful business. Window Tint in your Commercial Office Building in Colorado can do just that! American workers spend a majority of daylight hours at work. In many cases, we have come to think of it as our “home away from home”.  The biggest difference between your home and your office is you have control over the thermostat at home. Whereas at work, you probably don’t! Office temperatures being too hot or too cold,  can greatly affect the quality of the work your staff produces.  All American Window Tinting in Colorado offers window film solutions for your Commercial office building that help keep the heat in during the colder months and heat out during the warmer months. Helping keep your work environment comfortable year round!
Window film and window tint technology are not the same as it was 20 or so years ago. In the past dark colors were added to window films to help absorb heat and damaging UV rays. Sometimes metals were added to the window tints to reflect heat and harmful UV rays. That meant if you wanted to reduce heat in your building you would lose natural light from the windows. This was counterproductive because the answer was to add more interior lighting. Which in turn created more heating issues because light bulbs generate heat.  With advanced technologies window film manufacturers now use absorbing metals and materials that have reflectors we cannot see. These advanced technologies will help reduce the amount of natural light that is lost when window tint is applied.
Did you know natural light and artificial lighting has a significant impact on our moods throughout the day (WebMD)? This detail is especially important in large office buildings where people work in very close proximity to each other.  Natural lighting through windows is said to have a very calming and peaceful effect on our moods and emotions.
Even increasing alertness and metabolism. Whereas lack of light (dark windows) and even poor artificial lighting can trigger depression, eyestrain and in some cases migraines. Spectrally Select Window films will reduce and/or retain the temperatures in an office building with little effect on the natural light that enters a space.  Help keep your office staff upbeat and on task with window tint on the windows in your office in Colorado.
Everyone wants the office with the large windows or the desk next to the large windows. In fact, the newest trend in energy efficiency is large windows that allow natural light into a space. Large windows help eliminate the need for a lot of artificial lighting which can help with energy savings. Typical office windows block most UVB rays. Which is why normally you won’t get a sunburn while sitting at your desk.  What about UVA rays? Typical Clear glass only blocks a small portion of UVA rays through, so even if you don’t feel you are getting sunburned, your skin may still become damaged (American Cancer Society). UVA rays are the most intense because they penetrate deep into the skin's thickest layer. This can lead to premature aging, wrinkling, and even skin Cancer. So while the natural sunlight may brighten your mood,  UVA rays are damaging your skin and possibly even suppressing your immune system.  Window film on the windows in your office will reduce at least 99% of UVA and UVB rays. Helping eliminate the risks of Skin Cancer, premature aging and in some cases even depression!
Another potential problem with the coveted window seat is Glare. Too much glare on your computer screen can cause issues with workflow. Some may think blinds is the only answer. Since we have already determined that sunlight can affect your mood. Closing yourself in with blinds can make for a long, unhappy day. Window tint on the windows in your office can help eliminate the need for blinds by reducing the harsh sunlight to a more comfortable level.  Window film will allow you to continue to enjoy your view and still be able to actually see your computer screen!
Window film for the windows in your office building in Colorado doesn’t have to be dark and reflective to help with your sun problems. AAWT is the expert Office window film company in Colorado. We realize that window tint for offices is not one size fits all. Our accredited Advanced Solar Control specialists will help you determine the best window tint options for your building.  No matter the problem the sun is causing, we have the solution. Window Tint is Sunscreen for your Windows!

Window Tint on your car, home and office windows has many more benefits than just reducing heat and glare and providing privacy. Think of Window tint as a sunscreen for your windows. In the Winter month’s most people don’t think about sunscreen but you should. It's cold, it's snowy and you don't think the sun is causing much damage.
In Colorado, we get over 300 days of sunshine a year. So even though it is chilly outside, the sun is still shining brightly. If you stand in the right spot you can actually feel the warmth from the sun. We get the best of both worlds but we also have a bit more to worry about because we get so much sunshine and we have a higher altitude.
In high altitudes and in winter months, the sun's UV rays are actually increased. Exposure is increased because of the decreased atmosphere and because the sun’s UV rays reflect and/or bounce off the snow and back at you.  That means those damaging UV rays actually hit you twice! Double Whammy, Snow Burn! Rays account for up to 95 percent of UV rays that reach the Earth’s surface, they penetrate deeper into skin, cause wrinkles, and are the culprit for melanoma, the deadliest skin cancer. When elevation increases so do the sun's strength. The thinner atmosphere absorbs fewer UV rays, allowing them to pass through to the Earth much easier and with much more power, this greatly increases the risk of exposure. When living or vacationing in high altitudes, it is extremely important that you take extra precautions to protect yourself from the sun's harmful UV rays. UVA
Many places have an abundance of snow in the Winter months. When the sun's UVA rays bounce off the snow it creates an effect similar to being at the beach. These rays can be very intense and act the same throughout the year penetrating clouds and yes, even glass. Even just a few minutes of sun exposure during the day can wreak havoc. Not only on your skin but on the Interiors of your Home, Office, and Car. Over time those minutes add up and can cause noticeable changes to the skin, such as freckles, age spots, spider veins on the face, blotchy complexion, and fine wrinkles. Also causing cracking to car interiors and fading on floors and furniture. From repeated exposure to the sun's harmful rays, this photo aging process is inevitable and the only way to prevent it is by shielding yourself from the sun. Use a stronger sunblock during the winter months and in higher altitude and apply a window tint on your car, home, and office windows.
The most neglected area of exposure to the sun is glass! Many people feel that their glass alone is enough protection from the sun's harmful rays. This is absolutely WRONG!. Glass can actually magnify the effects of the sun most notably called the greenhouse effect. It can make a home, office and car interior even hotter. The UV rays are still permeating inside and are coming in contact with you and the things you love most. Protect yourself from the damaging rays of the sun with window film applications on your home, office or vehicle. Window film can block up to 99% of UV rays! With the application of window tint, you can be confident you are receiving the protection you need all year round.
All of the window tint options we carry reduce 99% o UV rays. Helping significantly reduce the risks from sun exposure. You don't have to black out your windows to receive these benefits. Limo tint reduces the same amount of UV rays as an 85% film. Take preventative action now, you can never be too safe, make the necessary changes to protect yourself and your loved ones against UV rays passing through your glass. At All American Window Tinting, Inc., we provide professional window film installations for your home, office or vehicle. Take advantage of the benefits that window film has to offer and call our office today at 303-936-1362 and start protecting the things you love most!

Reasons for needing window tint, even in the winter

Although there are many people who don’t mind the heat and get their cars tinted strictly for looks, the majority of us just despise that scorching heat or blinding sun that never fails to make those stop-and-go drives to work that much more exasperating, even in the winter. But there are actually even more reasons why tinting windows is a great thing to invest in. Today’s window films are very effective in reducing heat, up to 60%, which really makes a difference on those scorching hot summer days. Unfortunately, heat is only something we have to deal with about 50% of the time. What about the other 50% of time when it is anywhere from a comfortable temperature to cold? Well, if the sun is out, there are still Ultra Violet rays being absorbed by your skin and this is not a good thing. Living in Colorado, we get over 300 days of sun a year, many of which are also in the winter. A lot of the sun’s heat is reduced in the winter because of the cold air, but the Ultra Violet rays that fade upholstery, cause sunburn and skin cancer are actually amplified 85-90% when there is snow on the ground because the rays reflect off of the snow and back at you (SSA). Ultra Violet rays don’t only cause short term problems like sunburn but is also the main cause of premature visible skin aging such as wrinkles and age spots (IWFA), which is enough of a reason for many to want to avoid these dangerous rays and get window tint applied to their vehicles. UV exposure is also worse the higher in altitude you are. That being said, here in Colorado we are more likely to suffer from premature visible aging, sunburned or even worse, skin cancer which has also been linked to melanoma, compared to other states.
0200Another one of the many reasons one would consider window tinting is to reduce energy costs. Yes, its true, applying tint to windows can actually reduce energy costs up to 50% (Gila) which is a lot of money over time. When there is heat hitting your window from outside, the heat travels through the glass and transfers to the air and other objects that may be in contact with the window. This is called the heat conduction process. If tint is applied to the glass, it’s critically designed qualities allow it to reject a significant amount of UV rays, much more then glass alone (IWFA). Because of the material used to create the film it is able to reflect more light than the glass would have been able to otherwise, reducing glare, brightness, and even more heat. Because conduction is not happening as rapidly with the window tint applied, the air conditioner doesn’t have to work as hard to cool down the air that is getting heated by the window through the conduction process. This also works the other way around during the winter by keeping cold outside air from conducting thought the window to the warm air inside.
0109One of the least known uses for tint is to prevent breakage and provide safety if the glass is ever broken. Annealed (untreated regular) glass is not very strong and when broken can be very dangerous and even fatal due to the irregular shaped, sharp shards that it creates when it breaks. Applying tint to a window adds additional strength and keeps shattered glass intact if broken, preventing large shards from flying through the air causing injury. Even with treated or tempered glass which breaks into small squares, tint would be beneficial because it not only adds thickness to the glass making it stronger, it also acts as a protective layer preventing it from scratching and chipping over time which are all things that could happen regardless if it is summer or winter. These are just a few reasons why it is still beneficial to get tint applied in the winter.

Securing Your Glass

Security film or shatter resistant film has gained more notoriety over the past few years due to it’s various uses.  Shatter resistant film, sometimes called glass fragment retention film is an optically clear, multilayer, polyester film that bonds to the inside of the window to reinforce the glass and help hold it in place upon impact. Stores, home and even schools are seeing an increase in break-ins and violent acts making security film another precaution to consider. To read more about our security film in schools, CLICK HERE.  Another use of security film, one that is often overlooked, is it’s application to annealed glass.

Safety/security film applied to annealed glass can meet safety glazing standards that are in place. In the early 1970’s, the U.S. Government initiated legislative action to establish commercial building codes, requiring the installation of tempered glass in glazing systems exposed to high injury risk; such as doors of all types, glass partitions, etc. Not too long after, similar codes would be extended to residential buildings and glazing systems.  The reason for the change in legislation was due to the way the glass broke.  Annealed glass is cooled slowly, producing a strong glass but not as strong as tempered glass.  When annealed glass breaks, it breaks into various sizes that can be harmful to a person.  Tempered glass is cooled quickly during the manufacturing process and when broken, it shatters into small pieces, making it safer should impact occur.

If an annealed glass pane needs to be changed to a tempered pane, the cost to replace it would be over $600 dollars.  Applying security film to annealed glass would cost half the amount of complete replacement. When safety/security film is applied to annealed glass, it will meet the safety glazing standards that are in place.  Saving money by not replacing the glass is not the only benefit of applying security film to your windows.  Security and safety film offers solar and UV protection as well as glare reduction. The advantages to this film outweigh the stress of a complete glass replacement and is a great substitute to meet safety glazing standards.

Preserving Our History

The culture, artifacts, and stories of our past are our link to the history of our nation.  Historic buildings can be the most recognizable structure of a city, creating a connection with the city and it’s citizens, both past and present.

In 1966, Congress founded the National Historic Preservation Act which is intended to preserve historical and archeological sites in the United States of America.  While the purpose behind preserving efforts was initially used for drive patriotism and turn structures into museums in order the generate tourism, the focus soon changed.  In today’s society, the motivation for preservation is generally broken down into three categories:
1. to retain elements of the past
2. to commemorate the distinctive identities of places
3. practice a conservation approach to environmental change

While there are stipulations to changing the appearance of a historic building, applying window film to the windows of historic buildings promotes a green approach to retain elements of the past.  With advancements in technology, high performance window films were created within the last 20 years, enabling high heat rejection levels while keeping the visible light reflection anywhere from 8 to 12 percent.  These films do not alter the appearance of historic buildings because of their low visible reflectivity levels.  Glare is another factor that is reduced significantly; anywhere from 34 to 64 percent dependent on window film selection.  While rejecting 99- 99.9% of UV rays, window film aids in the deterrence of the fading of valuables.   When these buildings were created, insulation was minimal.  Approximately, 25% of a building’s heat loss escapes through the windows and window film can reduce the amount of heat that escapes.  During the hotter months, when solar energy enters the building, without film on the windows, hot spots are created in the home which increase the amount energy consumed due to cooling costs. By reducing the amount of heat entering the home, the consumption of energy is reduced. When window film is professionally installed, a building is saving up to 30% on cooling expenses.

Going Green in Your Home

Going green is the new ‘thing.’  What most people thought was a trend; going green has proven to make our lives and possessions more sustainable. This movement has turned into an effort of a life style change instead of trend.  We have seen these changes on both a small and large scale, and some green decisions are easier to make.  Applying window film to your home windows, is one of the best ways to ‘go green.’

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, in 1970, less than half of U.S. homes were air conditioned, but nearly 90 percent of homes use air conditioning today.  With this knowledge, it is estimated that 25 to 30 percent of the energy used in American buildings and homes is wasted due to inefficient windows.  According to the International Window Film Association (IWFA), today’s film give energy savings, a neutral carbon footprint, UV blocking and security benefits while letting visible light into the home.

Window film allows natural light into the home while lowering the amount of heat and glare entering the home.  Another benefit of window film is that most films reject anywhere from 99 to 99.9% of harmful UV rays.  These same UV rays contribute to the fading of your most prized possessions, as well as wood flooring and furniture. When solar energy enters the home, without film on the windows, hot spots are created in the home which increase the amount energy consumed due to cooling costs.  By reducing the amount of heat entering the home, the consumption of energy is reduced.  The return of your investment in window film could take up to three years to see.  When window film is professionally installed, not only are you saving up to 30% on cooling expenses, window film can add to the re-sale value of your property.  If you are worried about window film altering the look of your home or view, read our previous blog.

Call All American Window Tinting, Inc., of Denver, Colorado today at 303-936-1362 for your FREE estimate!!  Our estimator will come to your home, with samples of our various films in order to find the right match for you and your home.

Our Response to The Denver Post

All American Window Tinting, Inc., of Denver, CO recently stumbled upon an article, regarding window tinting, that was published in The Denver Post. The writer, Marni Jameson, raised valid questions about window film and if consumers were being swindled into a “transparent” lie. We continued to read the article (click here to read article) and couldn’t agree more with Ms. Jameson’s questions and findings. Mr. Smith, of the International Window Film Association (IWFA), was the respondent to Ms. Jameson’s questions. It is true that in the past, in order to have a high heat rejection the film would have to be dark. However; through the advancement of technology, we are seeing light to neutral films carry the same or even higher heat rejection percentages than those darker films.
All American Window Tinting, Inc., carries spectrally select films that are non-reflective, completely dye-free, have a neutral appearance and have the added feature of low reflectivity so that your view is not altered day or night! We are the only window tinting company in Denver, CO where Richard Marti, owner/President of All American Window Tinting, achieved Master Accreditation through the International Window Film Association (IWFA). The IWFA is an international association of window film manufacturers, distributors and installers dedicated to the improvement of products and services for the consumer.  As part of this dedication, the IWFA has developed a test designed to evaluate the knowledge and skill of the professional installer.  If you have been hesitant about installing window film to your home or business, call All American Window Tinting today at 303-936-1362 to schedule a FREE estimate!!  Our estimator will come to your home or business with a variety of samples to meet your needs.  You can also visit us online at www.allamericanwindowtinting.com to see some of the projects we have completed!

DIY Window Film Projects

Window film for cars, homes and offices are available to the public for their own installation. Is it a good idea to install your own window film? Well, it can’t be that hard to install and it seems more affordable than having it installed by a professional, right? This article will explore why it is advantageous for a professional installer to apply window film to your project. We will first discuss window film application for your automobile and then explore the window film application for residences and office/commercial buildings.

In our industry, we see window films sold in home improvement stores and there are businesses that apply film for a below market cost. It can seem easier to buy such films or use these companies but what exactly are you paying for? All the films we carry in our shop are LIFETIME WARRANTIED against bubbling, blistering, peeling or turning of purple. We stand behind our work and the products we carry. We also carry 3M Scotchgard clear bra to protect your car from harsh conditions on the road and this comes with a modest 5 year warranty. Tint removal is another aspect of services that we offer. It does seem simple to remove tint from a car but there are techniques to preserve rear window defrosters and ensure that the tint and glue are completely removed.

Our estimator will come to your residence or office to qualify the glass and recommend what film could and should be placed on your windows, free of cost. Living in Colorado, our weather is unpredictable and we live in high altitude. With this combination and depending on the type of glass installed in your home or residence and the direction of which way your windows face, determines what film works best for you. We carry various types of samples in order to find the perfect product for you.

All American Window Tinting, Inc., has been serving the Denver metro area for over 20 years. We have never met a job that was too big or too small. Our installers are trained specialists with the latest products, tools and education. Richard Marti received his Master Accreditation through the International Window Film Association.  He is the only individual to attain Master Accreditation in the state of Colorado. He is also 1 of 16 worldwide with the title, out of the 348 members of the IWFA. Even though there are 16 professionals to hold Master Accreditation, Richard is only 1 of 5 dealers worldwide.  Give us a call today at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate or visit us online at www.allamericanwindowtinting.com!

The Season of Glass Breakage

Living and working in Colorado has shown us that the weather is always unpredictable.  In one day, we can experience freezing mornings, warm afternoons and leave work in the snow.   With the weather constantly fluctuating, glass windows tend to fracture more so than windows that are in a stable climate.  This phenomenon is known as thermal stress and is very common in our industry.  Thermal stress is created when one area of a pane gets hotter than an adjacent area.

Should this stop you from getting your home or office windows tinted?

Our answer is, absolutely not! Thermal stress is dependent on the weather and the position of the sun, however there are other factors to take into account.  Our installer obtained his Master Accreditation through the International Window Film Association (IWFA), in order to be more knowledgeable about such factors.  Here, at All American Window Tinting, Inc., we offer free estimates for the purpose of offering our expertise on what film to use for your windows.  The different variables that we take into account vary from; if there is an overhang from the building, structure of the building, outside foliage shading, interior shading from blinds, the details of the internal heating systems, the size of mullions, colors of sealant(resilient or hardened), low-e coatings(the surface of the coating), the way the windows face and the location of the building.  It is also important to keep in mind that glass that has chipped edges or was damaged in fabrication are subjected to a greater risk of thermal stress.

What happens if my glass breaks?

Window film manufacturers and installers are aware of thermal shock fractures, and warranty the glass from thermal shock from their product.  If a thermal shock fracture does occur, a claim is made through the installer, submitted the manufacturer, and if approved, replaced.  This process can seem daunting and overwhelming, however the benefits of window film (such as reducing glare and heat, offering privacy and/or rejecting harmful UV rays) outweigh such concerns.  Contact All American Window Tinting, Inc., to have a professional installer evaluate your window system.

We Say Thank You!

Our country is always going through transition, whether it’s through politics, war or civil rights.  It’s very easy to become disenchanted with everything going on around the world, however it’s necessary to take time and thank those who served for our country.  Even though there are specified dates for memorialization and gratitude, how often do we thank those who served or are currently serving?  As a country, we are able to express ourselves and bring attention to issues that we deem important.  Had it not been for those brave men and women, our freedoms and rights would be obsolete.  Let’s honor our heroes for the sacrifices that they made not only for us, but for their families and loved ones.  To those who served or are currently serving, All American Window Tinting says thank you.  Thank you for acting selflessly to protect our country and citizens that you do not know. Thank you for taking your time away from family. friends and loved ones to defend our rights and freedoms.

All American Horror Story

As they walked into their home, the sight shocked them to their inner being.  It did not happen over night, but over time.  Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?  The everyday family moved into their home not too long ago and decided window film was “not for them.”  Blinds and curtains seemed more sensible to their budget and any other option was thrown out the window.  Anytime that it was sunny outside, which was often since Denver has close to 300 sunny days a year, the family would lift the curtains and open the blinds to let natural light into their home.  What they didn’t realize was that the sun’s harmful UV rays were allowed into their home as well.  Gradually, with each sunny day, the family’s hardwood floors, furniture and beautiful paintings were fading right before their eyes.  It was not until Halloween, when they walked through the door and noticed how summer’s scorching days harmed their most prized possessions.  “How in the world can we keep our view, allow sunlight into our home AND block out the harmful UV rays?” thought the everyday family.

After some investigating and thorough research, the family realized that window film might just be the option for them after all.  With this newly found information, their next step was to do an internet search of what companies offered window tinting in the Denver Metro area. Since they had already suffered in their home from constant heat and glare, they wanted to make the right choice. All American Window Tinting popped up on their internet search and they seemed reputable and knowledgeable.  They visited their website www.allamericanwindowtinting.com and saw all their incredible work.  When they called the office, the staff worked with the family and scheduled a free estimate.  Nothing spooky or creepy about this company, rather the opposite.

The moral of the story is that your home and valuable possessions should not have to be afraid of the sun’s dastardly ghost that’s haunts your home during the day.  Call All American Window Tinting at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate.  You don’t have to sacrifice your wallet or have your savings spooked because our prices won’t scare you!

Window Film vs. Blinds/Curtains

It is common to believe that purchasing curtains, blinds or shades for residential or commercial windows is the most effective way of cutting down costs.  While this can be true, there are other aspects that are neglected in order to achieve a low budget.  When interior shades are lowered to control glare and heat from the sun, the transmittance of daylight is inhibited.  This can in turn increase your monthly energy bill if you have to supplement artificial lighting when sunlight can be utilized.  Although blinds and/or curtains can offer privacy there are films that can offer privacy during the day; however it is important to note that anytime light can enter through a window film during the daytime it will allow light to pass the opposite direction at night.  If nighttime privacy is a concern, there are decorative films such as rain glass film or white frost that will allow minimal light to pass through the day while giving privacy at night.  Blinds and curtains tend to trap heat between the window and blinds/curtains.  The sun's heat is still entering the home, heating rooms.  Window film acts in two ways; it will increase the amount of energy that can be reflected away from the glass and will absorb more of solar energy that could not be reflected.  With these two factors presents, the amount of solar energy entering your home or business is decreased. In addition, window film is designed to filter the harmful UV rays that will enter your home, whereas blinds and curtains can not do so.  These harmful UV rays are a contributing factor to sun fading and are damaging to the skin.  The products that we carry at All American Window Tinting, Inc., are very affordable and the products we carry vary to meet different needs.  The window film we offer can address issues of daytime privacy, heat reduction, glare reduction, sun-fading reduction or some of these issues combined.

Tinting Laws?!

Did you know there are laws created for tinting your automotive windows? Do you know your state's tinting law? Each state creates their own tinting laws regarding how much light must pass through the windows of every car. Colorado, for example, is an either/or state when it comes to tinting the windows of a car.  You can choose to either tint your windows behind the driver's seat as dark as you want, as long as the front driver and passenger windows have NO tint applied to them or you can tint all the windows, not including the windshield, to a maximum of 27 percent.  As a company, it is our responsibility to tell the customer what the tinting laws are for our state and even other states, if need be.  Since Colorado can be filled with transient people, we have had customers come to us and tint their windows with film that will comply with two different state laws.
A statement that we commonly hear is, "how likely am I to be pulled over for having window film darker than the legal limit?"  We can not say that it is or isn't likely to happen because it can or can not happen.  In Colorado, we have heard that it is possible to receive tickets from 80 dollars to 300 dollars.  There could be fines for both the customer and business involved. However, if the tint adhered to the car is illegal,    All American Window Tinting, Inc. can remove the film from the windows in order for your car to be in compliance with the law.  There are also a few reasons to stay within the legal limit of tinting that extend beyond legal consequences.

There are times when customers choose a darker film than legal and have had problems seeing through their windows at night.  This does become a safety concern to the driver, those in the car and those outside of the car.  There is also the possibility that manufacturer's warranty may not apply to illegally tinted windows.  We often hear from customers that the legal percentage of window film is not dark enough or does not reject a lot of heat and this concern has been brought before manufacturers as well.  It is because of this concern that manufacturers are creating films that are light in tint shade and reject more heat than darker films.  These high performance films are making the way for cutting edge technologies that we hope to see in the window film industry.

Not Too Cool in School?

With school back in session, there have been a few grumblings about the start of school. We've heard students not wanting to return to school, parents wondering why school hasn't started earlier, and teachers having mixed emotions about their new set of students. One common concern that we have heard across the city is the lack of air conditioning/cooling system in the schools. The sun's immense heat has plagued schools and with so many bodies in one building, it is no wonder why students and teachers alike are suffering in the heat. We can look at schools specifically, however this same concept can apply to any building that lacks a cooling system or even an effective one for that matter.
It would be unreasonable to ask school districts to install an air conditioning system in every school due to the high costs. All the individuals in any given building, create body heat and with computers and other equipment operating, heat levels without a doubt, will rise. Window film offers a reasonable and cost efficient solution to such dilemmas. The film applied to the window can increase safety, save energy and enhance the appearance of your building. Our High-Performance films can protect interiors from fading, reduce glare on computer screens, and eliminate discomfort all around.
It is not necessary to have every window in the building tinted since the sun may not directly affect a certain side of the building. It is, however, necessary to consult a trained professional in order to ensure that all precautions/factors are taken into consideration. Generic bronze tinted glass that is most commonly seen, absorbs heat and re-radiates inward. Our goal is to use window film that will reflect that heat outwards. This in turn can reduce cooling bills and offer a more comfortable environment for those in the building.

What Are You Putting On Your Windows?

Last week, we explored why tint shops carry so many different products and covered a few topics such as warranties and heat rejection properties (click here for last week's article). This week's article will explore what materials are used when creating window film and why there is even a difference. It was mentioned last week that one type of window film can not be applied to every window because of safety and/or efficiency. It is for this reason that different materials are used to create different films, and with technology advancing certain materials are taking the forefront.

Typically, most window film is a polyester film generally made of PET, Polyethylene Teraphthalate, the same polymer used to manufacture water bottles. Most films are applied to the interior surface of a glass window in a home, commercial building, or car, however some films are applied to the exterior surface of the glass window. A scratch resistant coating is adhered to the outer surface of the film for protection. Some are clear and feature multiple layers of PET to offer protection from shattering glass; others are tinted with metals, dyes or pigments to reduce the visible light transmitted through the glass, and block heat coming through from the sun (http://www.madico.com). Within the last decade, advancements have been made with a 'newer' type of film made out of ceramic. Huper Optik developed a ceramic film that is 100% metal and dye free. This type of film was created to provide a high performance heat, glare and UV light barrier. It will not break down and turn purple over time, like a dyed film, because there is no dye in the film that would cause fading.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have! If you have any questions about our products, contact us today to find the RIGHT film for your car, residence or commercial business!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

Finding the right product for your home, office or automobile can be confusing and overwhelming. Tint shops can carry different brands of window film as well as different shades of tint within each brand. The intention of carrying different brands of film and different products is to ensure that multiple options are available for the customer to choose from. This article will explore the different types of film that we, at All American Window Tinting, use for automobiles, homes, and offices.

All of the films that we carry are for automobile window tinting comes with a lifetime warranty and they reject 99% to 99.9% of UV rays. The warranty covers any blistering, peeling, bubbling, or turning purple of film. If we offer a lifetime warranty on all our automotive films and they reject the same percentage of harmful UV rays, why do we carry different brands? Well, let's get a little bit more specific. Each film we carry can differ from each other based on one factor to multiple factors. It is usual to find that the darker the tint shade, the more heat is rejected. This is true for many films but with advancements in technology, manufacturers are discovering new ways to reject the same amount or more heat than a dark film while maintaining a lighter shade. However, since these films are high performing, the price for does increase.

When talking about films for residences and commercial properties, the products we carry vary due to many reasons. Not only concerned about variety, there are certain types of film that can not be applied to certain windows due to safety or effectivity. Since our professionals are aware of such concerns and know that not every job will want the same use for window film, we provide film to need almost every need. All of our residential films are lifetime warrantied and our commercial films vary on warranties by 10-15 years. Another great option for window film would be decorative film. We offer an array of classic and elegant patterns with a variety of textures and designs. Decorative window film adds privacy, enhances design, increases safety, cuts glare and is scratch resistant.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we are very transparent about everything we do and will work with potential customers to ensure that they receive the best products for them. We carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have! Contact us today to find the RIGHT film for your car, residence or commercial business!

Great Partnerships

Our company has partnered with 3M for over 15 years because they are a company of integrity. Seventeen years ago, a customer entered All American Window Tinting and chose a 3M film for her car. She decided to go with a 3M Panther 35 film, that offered a lifetime warranty. When customers are looking for the right film for them, they tend to ask questions, and these questions are important (if you need to know what to ask, click here for last week’s article). When searching for the right film, one expects to find a film that will not turn purple, bubble, blister or peel. The customer came back to our location 17 years later and said she still had her lifetime warranty and wanted the film removed and redone. We were put into a predicament because we no longer carried the Panther film and 3M no longer sold the film, as well. We called our local 3M distribution company for help to resolve the problem. 3M stood behind their product and honored the warranty by offering another film they manufactured. We were able to call the customer and inform her that the film she had on her vehicle was no longer in production but 3M would honor the warranty and offer her a 3M Color Stable 35 film. When we find a product that we think will be great for a customer, we put our full faith in the manufacturer’s promise of lifetime warranties. We take pride in every product that we offer at All American Window Tinting, and are amazed at the great partnerships we have created with our manufacturers.    Call us today at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate or to schedule an appointment.
