The Season of Glass Breakage

Living and working in Colorado has shown us that the weather is always unpredictable.  In one day, we can experience freezing mornings, warm afternoons and leave work in the snow.   With the weather constantly fluctuating, glass windows tend to fracture more so than windows that are in a stable climate.  This phenomenon is known as thermal stress and is very common in our industry.  Thermal stress is created when one area of a pane gets hotter than an adjacent area.

Should this stop you from getting your home or office windows tinted?

Our answer is, absolutely not! Thermal stress is dependent on the weather and the position of the sun, however there are other factors to take into account.  Our installer obtained his Master Accreditation through the International Window Film Association (IWFA), in order to be more knowledgeable about such factors.  Here, at All American Window Tinting, Inc., we offer free estimates for the purpose of offering our expertise on what film to use for your windows.  The different variables that we take into account vary from; if there is an overhang from the building, structure of the building, outside foliage shading, interior shading from blinds, the details of the internal heating systems, the size of mullions, colors of sealant(resilient or hardened), low-e coatings(the surface of the coating), the way the windows face and the location of the building.  It is also important to keep in mind that glass that has chipped edges or was damaged in fabrication are subjected to a greater risk of thermal stress.

What happens if my glass breaks?

Window film manufacturers and installers are aware of thermal shock fractures, and warranty the glass from thermal shock from their product.  If a thermal shock fracture does occur, a claim is made through the installer, submitted the manufacturer, and if approved, replaced.  This process can seem daunting and overwhelming, however the benefits of window film (such as reducing glare and heat, offering privacy and/or rejecting harmful UV rays) outweigh such concerns.  Contact All American Window Tinting, Inc., to have a professional installer evaluate your window system.

We Say Thank You!

Our country is always going through transition, whether it’s through politics, war or civil rights.  It’s very easy to become disenchanted with everything going on around the world, however it’s necessary to take time and thank those who served for our country.  Even though there are specified dates for memorialization and gratitude, how often do we thank those who served or are currently serving?  As a country, we are able to express ourselves and bring attention to issues that we deem important.  Had it not been for those brave men and women, our freedoms and rights would be obsolete.  Let’s honor our heroes for the sacrifices that they made not only for us, but for their families and loved ones.  To those who served or are currently serving, All American Window Tinting says thank you.  Thank you for acting selflessly to protect our country and citizens that you do not know. Thank you for taking your time away from family. friends and loved ones to defend our rights and freedoms.

All American Horror Story

As they walked into their home, the sight shocked them to their inner being.  It did not happen over night, but over time.  Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?  The everyday family moved into their home not too long ago and decided window film was “not for them.”  Blinds and curtains seemed more sensible to their budget and any other option was thrown out the window.  Anytime that it was sunny outside, which was often since Denver has close to 300 sunny days a year, the family would lift the curtains and open the blinds to let natural light into their home.  What they didn’t realize was that the sun’s harmful UV rays were allowed into their home as well.  Gradually, with each sunny day, the family’s hardwood floors, furniture and beautiful paintings were fading right before their eyes.  It was not until Halloween, when they walked through the door and noticed how summer’s scorching days harmed their most prized possessions.  “How in the world can we keep our view, allow sunlight into our home AND block out the harmful UV rays?” thought the everyday family.

After some investigating and thorough research, the family realized that window film might just be the option for them after all.  With this newly found information, their next step was to do an internet search of what companies offered window tinting in the Denver Metro area. Since they had already suffered in their home from constant heat and glare, they wanted to make the right choice. All American Window Tinting popped up on their internet search and they seemed reputable and knowledgeable.  They visited their website www.allamericanwindowtinting.com and saw all their incredible work.  When they called the office, the staff worked with the family and scheduled a free estimate.  Nothing spooky or creepy about this company, rather the opposite.

The moral of the story is that your home and valuable possessions should not have to be afraid of the sun’s dastardly ghost that’s haunts your home during the day.  Call All American Window Tinting at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate.  You don’t have to sacrifice your wallet or have your savings spooked because our prices won’t scare you!

Window Film vs. Blinds/Curtains

It is common to believe that purchasing curtains, blinds or shades for residential or commercial windows is the most effective way of cutting down costs.  While this can be true, there are other aspects that are neglected in order to achieve a low budget.  When interior shades are lowered to control glare and heat from the sun, the transmittance of daylight is inhibited.  This can in turn increase your monthly energy bill if you have to supplement artificial lighting when sunlight can be utilized.  Although blinds and/or curtains can offer privacy there are films that can offer privacy during the day; however it is important to note that anytime light can enter through a window film during the daytime it will allow light to pass the opposite direction at night.  If nighttime privacy is a concern, there are decorative films such as rain glass film or white frost that will allow minimal light to pass through the day while giving privacy at night.  Blinds and curtains tend to trap heat between the window and blinds/curtains.  The sun's heat is still entering the home, heating rooms.  Window film acts in two ways; it will increase the amount of energy that can be reflected away from the glass and will absorb more of solar energy that could not be reflected.  With these two factors presents, the amount of solar energy entering your home or business is decreased. In addition, window film is designed to filter the harmful UV rays that will enter your home, whereas blinds and curtains can not do so.  These harmful UV rays are a contributing factor to sun fading and are damaging to the skin.  The products that we carry at All American Window Tinting, Inc., are very affordable and the products we carry vary to meet different needs.  The window film we offer can address issues of daytime privacy, heat reduction, glare reduction, sun-fading reduction or some of these issues combined.
Stop living in the dark and call All American Window Tinting, Inc. today at 303-936-1362 to set up a free estimate!

Tinting Laws?!

Did you know there are laws created for tinting your automotive windows? Do you know your state's tinting law? Each state creates their own tinting laws regarding how much light must pass through the windows of every car. Colorado, for example, is an either/or state when it comes to tinting the windows of a car.  You can choose to either tint your windows behind the driver's seat as dark as you want, as long as the front driver and passenger windows have NO tint applied to them or you can tint all the windows, not including the windshield, to a maximum of 27 percent.  As a company, it is our responsibility to tell the customer what the tinting laws are for our state and even other states, if need be.  Since Colorado can be filled with transient people, we have had customers come to us and tint their windows with film that will comply with two different state laws.
A statement that we commonly hear is, "how likely am I to be pulled over for having window film darker than the legal limit?"  We can not say that it is or isn't likely to happen because it can or can not happen.  In Colorado, we have heard that it is possible to receive tickets from 80 dollars to 300 dollars.  There could be fines for both the customer and business involved. However, if the tint adhered to the car is illegal,    All American Window Tinting, Inc. can remove the film from the windows in order for your car to be in compliance with the law.  There are also a few reasons to stay within the legal limit of tinting that extend beyond legal consequences.

There are times when customers choose a darker film than legal and have had problems seeing through their windows at night.  This does become a safety concern to the driver, those in the car and those outside of the car.  There is also the possibility that manufacturer's warranty may not apply to illegally tinted windows.  We often hear from customers that the legal percentage of window film is not dark enough or does not reject a lot of heat and this concern has been brought before manufacturers as well.  It is because of this concern that manufacturers are creating films that are light in tint shade and reject more heat than darker films.  These high performance films are making the way for cutting edge technologies that we hope to see in the window film industry.
If you have any questions about tinting laws, please feel free to contact us at (303)936-1362 or come in see our samples!  At All American Window Tinting, our staff is equipped with years of knowledge and expert training to ensure that all your window needs and concerns are met.  We stand behind our work and promise to deliver only the highest of quality products with a professional installation that is sure to stand the test of time.

Not Too Cool in School?

With school back in session, there have been a few grumblings about the start of school. We've heard students not wanting to return to school, parents wondering why school hasn't started earlier, and teachers having mixed emotions about their new set of students. One common concern that we have heard across the city is the lack of air conditioning/cooling system in the schools. The sun's immense heat has plagued schools and with so many bodies in one building, it is no wonder why students and teachers alike are suffering in the heat. We can look at schools specifically, however this same concept can apply to any building that lacks a cooling system or even an effective one for that matter.
It would be unreasonable to ask school districts to install an air conditioning system in every school due to the high costs. All the individuals in any given building, create body heat and with computers and other equipment operating, heat levels without a doubt, will rise. Window film offers a reasonable and cost efficient solution to such dilemmas. The film applied to the window can increase safety, save energy and enhance the appearance of your building. Our High-Performance films can protect interiors from fading, reduce glare on computer screens, and eliminate discomfort all around.
It is not necessary to have every window in the building tinted since the sun may not directly affect a certain side of the building. It is, however, necessary to consult a trained professional in order to ensure that all precautions/factors are taken into consideration. Generic bronze tinted glass that is most commonly seen, absorbs heat and re-radiates inward. Our goal is to use window film that will reflect that heat outwards. This in turn can reduce cooling bills and offer a more comfortable environment for those in the building.
At All American Window Tinting, Richard Marti holds Master Accreditation through the International Window Film Association. He is the only individual to attain Master Accreditation in the state of Colorado. Only the industries best dealers and installers are those that are well informed and well versed in both theory and application of window film products. What Are You Putting On Your Windows?

Last week, we explored why tint shops carry so many different products and covered a few topics such as warranties and heat rejection properties (click here for last week's article). This week's article will explore what materials are used when creating window film and why there is even a difference. It was mentioned last week that one type of window film can not be applied to every window because of safety and/or efficiency. It is for this reason that different materials are used to create different films, and with technology advancing certain materials are taking the forefront.

Typically, most window film is a polyester film generally made of PET, Polyethylene Teraphthalate, the same polymer used to manufacture water bottles. Most films are applied to the interior surface of a glass window in a home, commercial building, or car, however some films are applied to the exterior surface of the glass window. A scratch resistant coating is adhered to the outer surface of the film for protection. Some are clear and feature multiple layers of PET to offer protection from shattering glass; others are tinted with metals, dyes or pigments to reduce the visible light transmitted through the glass, and block heat coming through from the sun (http://www.madico.com). Within the last decade, advancements have been made with a 'newer' type of film made out of ceramic. Huper Optik developed a ceramic film that is 100% metal and dye free. This type of film was created to provide a high performance heat, glare and UV light barrier. It will not break down and turn purple over time, like a dyed film, because there is no dye in the film that would cause fading.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have! If you have any questions about our products, contact us today to find the RIGHT film for your car, residence or commercial business!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

Finding the right product for your home, office or automobile can be confusing and overwhelming. Tint shops can carry different brands of window film as well as different shades of tint within each brand. The intention of carrying different brands of film and different products is to ensure that multiple options are available for the customer to choose from. This article will explore the different types of film that we, at All American Window Tinting, use for automobiles, homes, and offices.

All of the films that we carry are for automobile window tinting comes with a lifetime warranty and they reject 99% to 99.9% of UV rays. The warranty covers any blistering, peeling, bubbling, or turning purple of film. If we offer a lifetime warranty on all our automotive films and they reject the same percentage of harmful UV rays, why do we carry different brands? Well, let's get a little bit more specific. Each film we carry can differ from each other based on one factor to multiple factors. It is usual to find that the darker the tint shade, the more heat is rejected. This is true for many films but with advancements in technology, manufacturers are discovering new ways to reject the same amount or more heat than a dark film while maintaining a lighter shade. However, since these films are high performing, the price for does increase.

When talking about films for residences and commercial properties, the products we carry vary due to many reasons. Not only concerned about variety, there are certain types of film that can not be applied to certain windows due to safety or effectivity. Since our professionals are aware of such concerns and know that not every job will want the same use for window film, we provide film to need almost every need. All of our residential films are lifetime warrantied and our commercial films vary on warranties by 10-15 years. Another great option for window film would be decorative film. We offer an array of classic and elegant patterns with a variety of textures and designs. Decorative window film adds privacy, enhances design, increases safety, cuts glare and is scratch resistant.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we are very transparent about everything we do and will work with potential customers to ensure that they receive the best products for them. We carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have! Contact us today to find the RIGHT film for your car, residence or commercial business!

Great Partnerships

Our company has partnered with 3M for over 15 years because they are a company of integrity. Seventeen years ago, a customer entered All American Window Tinting and chose a 3M film for her car. She decided to go with a 3M Panther 35 film, that offered a lifetime warranty. When customers are looking for the right film for them, they tend to ask questions, and these questions are important (if you need to know what to ask, click here for last week’s article). When searching for the right film, one expects to find a film that will not turn purple, bubble, blister or peel. The customer came back to our location 17 years later and said she still had her lifetime warranty and wanted the film removed and redone. We were put into a predicament because we no longer carried the Panther film and 3M no longer sold the film, as well. We called our local 3M distribution company for help to resolve the problem. 3M stood behind their product and honored the warranty by offering another film they manufactured. We were able to call the customer and inform her that the film she had on her vehicle was no longer in production but 3M would honor the warranty and offer her a 3M Color Stable 35 film. When we find a product that we think will be great for a customer, we put our full faith in the manufacturer’s promise of lifetime warranties. We take pride in every product that we offer at All American Window Tinting, and are amazed at the great partnerships we have created with our manufacturers.    Call us today at 303-936-1362 for a free estimate or to schedule an appointment. Ask us about our warranties!!

The Hassle of Searching for your Window Tinting Company

The lengthy research of finding the right tint for your car, home or office can be frustrating and exhausting, is all that research really worth your time?  In the office, we receive many calls inquiring about our prices, products, duration of tint, warranties, and the legality of tint in our state as well as within other states.  Is it necessary to ask all these questions, over and over just to hear similar answers spewed back? Our answer is YES!

Why is it important to shop around and do your research?
The items you possess, such as your car or the valuables in your home or office should be of high importance to you.  You should want the best product out there that will protect your skin, offer privacy and/or reduce the effects of fading on your furniture.
We can guarantee that every film created is not the same even though they might be the same percentage, manufacturers create them to be unique to their company.  There are questions that need to be asked when shopping around that will give you a better idea of the best product for you. Here are just a few:

1. What is the legal limit of tint in my state or a state that I may move to in the near future?  An important question to ask because you do not want to get fined for illegal tint and you do not want to have to remove the tint if you move to another state with harsher tint laws.

2. What is the warranty for the films?
Some films are relatively inexpensive and that could be due to their warranty.  If they do not offer a warranty or it's less than a few years, the product may not be a long term film.

3.  Are your brands of film trusted and in the industry for a long time?
It is always best to choose a film that is known within the window tinting business.  If you are not familiar with a brand and are skeptical about it, ask for information.  Companies should be able to provide you reviews, downsides and upsides of each product.

These are only a few questions to get you started on your window tinting journey.  The more questions you ask, the better of an idea we have on what would suit your needs.
Around here, we always say "You get what you pay for."  This isn't a jab at other window tinting companies and we are not trying to price gouge you, rather we believe that if the price is too good to be true, it probably isn't true in some area.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we are very transparent about everything we do and will work with potential customers to ensure that they receive the best products for them.  We carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have!   Contact us today for any questions or a free quote!

The Perils of Sunlight

Sunlight, for many centuries, has proven to be a great constant in everyday living.  The sun has provided more than light to our existence and we continue to discover new information surrounding it's uses as well as it's dangers.  As a culture, we are very aware of the sun's ultraviolet rays and therefore the prevalence of skin cancer, but the sun can also cause damage our most prized possessions at a costly price.

In today's society, there's a high demand for large, open interior spaces that are overflowing with natural light.  This new trend has brought more light in buildings, which does conserve energy but at the same time, interior fabrics, paintings and finishes have become more susceptible to damage.  Currently, due to ozone depletion, higher levels of solar UV now reach the surface of the earth, harming items at a faster rate.  Ultraviolet radiation is invisible to the human eye but is the single largest contributing factor in fading of fabrics, carpets and other furnishings.  Although other factors such as visible light, electric lighting, heating, humidity, age of fabrics, and fabric dyes all play a part in the process, UV radiation is attributed to 40% of the damage.  Even in cold, cloudy climates, UV radiation can damage furnishings (Advanced Solar Guide Control, 2003).

What is fading?

Fading is a change in color with time.  Fading is measured by evaluating the color of a material at two or more points in time.

Fading has two main causes.  The first is chemical; where chemical changes in the coloring agents of the material can cause a change in color.  The second cause can be wear or abrasion, or the physical removal of coloring agents from a material's surface.   Fading of upholstery, linens, furniture and wood is not apparent at first but over time, the difference can be astonishing.

What can be done to prevent fading?

According to the International Window Film Association (IWFA), Scientist have found that blocking all of the ultraviolet radiation portion of the solar spectrum would not eliminate fade damage for most fabrics and wood, but it would slow down the rate of fading by a factor of about three.

Start taking precautions and protect your paint, furnishings, wood work, art, and loved ones against the harmful ultraviolet damage that the sun can cause.  We carry only the best window tints and window film products in Colorado, such as 3M™ High Performance window film, Huper Optik Select and Ceramic Series window films and Llumar Color Stable window films to ensure you get the best performance.

Glass Shattering News!!

This information will not only explore the progression of glass but what options are available to protect your safety.   The creation and evolution of glass has propelled other industries to flourish for reasons beyond superficiality.   Glass is a complex material that has been used for various purposes extending from storage, to protection, to art.  The evolution of glass has improved through methodical practicality and through accidents that exhibited the weaknesses of glass.  The question is not if  glass will break, but rather when will the glass break.

Glass was first stumbled upon during the Stone Age; created by a natural occurrence called Obsidian or volcanic glass.  Around 3,000 B.C.E., the people of Mesopotamia, Babylonia and Syria made glass by creating containers and would later perfect the art.  The art of glass creation was lost for a period of time, resurfacing at a later time, across the Roman Empire.  The Romans were the first to use glass for windows in order for natural light to illuminate a house, around 100 C.E.  They would, however, not become common in ordinary houses in England until about 1500 years later.

Glass is probably as attractive and clearly transparent as it is ever going to be, however the new frontier will be the resilience of glass.  If glass is involved in accidents or disasters, most injuries that occur are due to broken glass.  When glass breaks, the cracks move at speeds of up to 3,000 mph.  There are five broad categories as to why glass breakage occurs.

1.Tensile stress from the weight of the glass.
2. Thermal stress from absorption of solar radiation.
3. Mechanical flexing stress, i.e. wind pressure.
4. Impact stress from flying objects.
5. Twisting stress from building movements.

Safety Film was first developed in the 1970's by the British government as a way to diminish the deadly effects of flying and falling glass in terrorist bombing that were widespread throughout England, Northern Ireland and Europe.  In the United States, Safety Film's sales saw an increase in the late 1980's and early 1990's due to natural disasters, vandalism and terrorism.  Security Film is an almost invisible protective coating on the interior side of the glass surface.  When stress causes the glass to break, the film has the ability to stretch and absorb some or all of the energy generated by the stress.  The result is that the broken glass may remain intact within the framing system, preventing shards of glass from becoming lethal.  If however; the stress on the glass is too great, the film is stretched to its maximum at which point it may tear and burst, though the distance and the velocity at which the debris flies is significantly reduced.

The Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995 prompted sitting President Bill Clinton, to issue a Presidential Directive (PDD39), due to more than three-quarters of those injured were injured by flying glass.  The main investigation was to assess the vulnerability of federal office buildings in the United States, particularly to acts of terrorism and other forms of violence.  It was determined that windows were the weakest part of a building and more measures should be taken in order to ensure safety.  Security Film provides an added level of protection and safety from broken glass shards caused by bomb blasts, other explosives, vandalism or natural disasters.  Security Film is the best and most advantageous protection for your home and/or business.

At All American Window Tinting, our staff is equipped with years of knowledge and expert training to ensure that all your window needs and concerns are met.  Just as quickly as glass evolved and transformed; our application, materials and training continue to stay current and cutting-edge.  At All American Window Tinting, Inc., we stand behind our work and promise to deliver only the highest of quality products with a professional installation that is sure to stand the test of time.

Resisting Abrasion One Window At a Time

Window films are composed of different materials, no single window film is alike. But with the latest technology, each film shares one characteristic, a hard coat chemical coating that acts as a scratch resistant barrier. This barrier is in place to protect your windows from scratches, scuffs and abrasion from normal day to day window maintenance. This scratch resistant surface can be comprised of many different materials, the most common is acrylic based, but some can be composed of a pure hydrocarbon molecular hard coat. Such a protective layer adds to the durability of the window film and allows for much easier maintenance of the film.
Today's window films have superior scratch resistant coatings than older films had. Window films of the past were ruined the first time that they were cleaned, that is, unless the ultimate care was taken. The films of today allow for normal, care free cleaning. If proper maintenance instructions are followed the window film will maintain its scratch resistant property for years. When cleaning windows that have window film in place, it is recommended to use a simple soap and water mixture, and always use a soft cloth to maintain its scratch resistant properties. Keep away from products that contain ammonia and do not use abrasive cleaners, as these will cause the hard coat to break down.
Remember, scratch resistant does not mean scratch proof, use caution when working around tinted windows with paint scrapers and metal objects. Although scratch resistant hard coatings protect against accidental abrasion, product deterioration from normal cleaning, and provide good performance in all climates, proper care still needs to be maintained in order to ensure years and years of scratch prevention.
Hard coats do differ when it comes to an interior window film to that of an exterior window film. Exterior window film has a much stronger scratch resistant coating to withstand wind, rain, and other factors that the window film will be exposed to. When getting a window film installation always be sure to get the proper window film for the job.
Rest assured that today's technology in window film has been formulated to maintain its resilience for years and years to come, as long as you do your part, you can sustain this protective barrier for a lifetime.

Fundamentals to the Ultimate School Renovation

In order to achieve energy efficiency improvements within America's schools, many are opting to go the green route with window films. There is much that window film can achieve, for instance, glare is often times a big issue in schools. The sun's bright light entering the windows reflect off of the classrooms white boards, this glare can be almost debilitating to students trying to focus and learn. Window film can fix this issue, it has the capability to reduce light transmittance which means it can actually block/reduce the amount of light that enters through a window without making the room dark and allowing the students to view the white board much easier. Window films also reject heat and aid in maintaining a more consistent interior temperature balancing out hot and cold spots throughout the building. Instead of using expensive blinds and other window coverings to block heat, window film can do all that without compromising visible light. This diminishes the requirement of round the clock artificial lighting use. The use of window film is also a more cost effective way to obtain energy savings in that it can act as insulation to an older window unit. Applying window film is a lot less expensive than replacing windows and still allows you to get the same energy control as new windows.

Window film applications on school windows is also a great way to achieve safety and security. In case of an explosion or other threat, window film will keep the glass in place and prevent flying glass shards from harming those inside the building. It strengthens the glass of windows and increases safety from potential accidents too. With specific window film applications, a school can receive an increase in privacy from outsiders or reduce the distractions a lot of students have from outside events. You can also protect your buildings windows from the effects of graffiti. There are specialty films that can be applied that can be easily removed and replaced if graffiti or etching occurs, this is definitely a great way to ensure that your school maintains its positive look and prevent the need for an expensive glass replacement.

Window film installation is extremely cost effective and has a return on investment. It takes only a day to install and does not disrupt classes. It is perfect for a school who is looking to stay on a budget and extend the life of their building. Going green with window film installation is a reliable, beneficial, energy efficient and cost effective way to achieve the ultimate renovation for your building. We believe that educating each individual that seeks our services deserves to be fully knowledgeable before any installation takes place. We give the peace of mind that our customers are entitled to, as the process of installation and warranty information is quite detailed.

Document Preservation for Both Window Replacement and Window Film Application

When meeting with our installer for the first time, be sure to take in all the information that is provided. But most importantly keep ALL documentation. This is important for future reference and keeping such documentation will ensure that any future issues that may arise are fully covered. Do so with any services you you receive from any company. The warranty you receive for any services that may have been rendered MUST be kept in a safe place; if it becomes lost, and you don't have the documentation to back up your claim for any future complaints, you may then be at a loss. This is something we warn each and every customer about; we try to prevent you from having issues when it comes to filing a claim. When it comes to filing a claim all warranty documentation is needed. Your name, address and date of installation must be present on the warranty; in order to ensure that it is valid and accepted by the manufacturer. Each warranty is different, the type of product, type of installation and date of installation all play a role in determining your warranty terms. Once a claim is filed, patience is much needed, as the process of submitting a warranty and waiting for approval and then getting replacement services or a refund could take up to  60 days. We work with the warranty departments of each manufacturer to ensure a speedy approval of your claim, but in some cases, dependent upon numerous variables, there is no telling on how long it could take for a claim to be approved. Each situation is different and is composed of various factors that determine the approval process.

Be Wise - Choose Wise

You, as a consumer, must be familiar with warranty terms when it comes to applying window film to your windows. Once a window film is applied, it renders the original window warranty invalid. But don't be alarmed, the window film comes with a warranty that will back up the original window unit warranty so, if for any reason seal failure occurs due to the application of the window film, the damage to your window unit will be covered. When choosing what company you are going to go with for your window film installation be sure to get all warranty information, and be sure your window film warranty covers your actual window unit. For example, if you choose All American Window Tinting, Inc., and you decided to go with a Huper Optik Window Film, the warranty states that:

"In the event glass failure and or seal failure due to thermal stress is caused only as a direct result of the application of the HUPER OPTIK window film, Huper Optik USA will:

1. Repair or Replace the broken glass.
2. Replace or repair that portion of the window frame in immediate contact with the glass, if damaged due to the break.
3. Replace such quantity of HUPER OPTIK film judged to be necessary by Huper Optik USA in its sole discretion.
4. Board up or cover openings caused by glass failure when replacement of glass is subject to unreasonable delay.
5. Repair or replace the seal, if damaged due to the break."

This proves that if the window film application were to cause seal failure or glass failure that the manufacturer, Huper Optik, would indeed provide the necessary means to replace or repair your window unit. There are other terms of the warranty that contribute to this coverage, for example, the age of the windows and how long the window film has actually been in place. Know the terms of your warranty and base your service/product selection on these terms and choose the recommendations that are provided to you. It's very important that you go with a professional for both types of installations to ensure a proper install and to maintain a warranty. It is very easy to be swindled, so educate yourself each and every time you meet with a company.
Once a warranty claim is approved, replacement of services and/or product will be awarded to you, and will be based on your individual warranty terms. No alterations or substitutions of any warranty can or will be made. All warranty approvals are done so by the manufacturer; the decision to approve your claim is solely done by the manufacturer and such decision is based on your reasoning, validity of the claim and terms of the warranty. The dealer/installer can ONLY validate the claim on your behalf to assist in the approval process. Once a issue arrives and a claim is made it is out of the hands of the dealer/installer and any award given is provided by the manufacturer.

Educate, Understand, Follow and Keep

Be sure to read through all of your warranty documentation and to follow any maintenance instructions provided to you. If proper actions are taken on your behalf your warranty will be sure to protect you. The importance of keeping such documentation can not be stressed enough. Read, educate and follow all instructions to be sure you get the protection you deserve.
