Resisting Abrasion One Window At a Time

Window films are composed of different materials, no single window film is alike. But with the latest technology, each film shares one characteristic, a hard coat chemical coating that acts as a scratch resistant barrier. This barrier is in place to protect your windows from scratches, scuffs and abrasion from normal day to day window maintenance. This scratch resistant surface can be comprised of many different materials, the most common is acrylic based, but some can be composed of a pure hydrocarbon molecular hard coat. Such a protective layer adds to the durability of the window film and allows for much easier maintenance of the film.
Today's window films have superior scratch resistant coatings than older films had. Window films of the past were ruined the first time that they were cleaned, that is, unless the ultimate care was taken. The films of today allow for normal, care free cleaning. If proper maintenance instructions are followed the window film will maintain its scratch resistant property for years. When cleaning windows that have window film in place, it is recommended to use a simple soap and water mixture, and always use a soft cloth to maintain its scratch resistant properties. Keep away from products that contain ammonia and do not use abrasive cleaners, as these will cause the hard coat to break down.
Remember, scratch resistant does not mean scratch proof, use caution when working around tinted windows with paint scrapers and metal objects. Although scratch resistant hard coatings protect against accidental abrasion, product deterioration from normal cleaning, and provide good performance in all climates, proper care still needs to be maintained in order to ensure years and years of scratch prevention.
Hard coats do differ when it comes to an interior window film to that of an exterior window film. Exterior window film has a much stronger scratch resistant coating to withstand wind, rain, and other factors that the window film will be exposed to. When getting a window film installation always be sure to get the proper window film for the job.
Rest assured that today's technology in window film has been formulated to maintain its resilience for years and years to come, as long as you do your part, you can sustain this protective barrier for a lifetime.

Fundamentals to the Ultimate School Renovation

In order to achieve energy efficiency improvements within America's schools, many are opting to go the green route with window films. There is much that window film can achieve, for instance, glare is often times a big issue in schools. The sun's bright light entering the windows reflect off of the classrooms white boards, this glare can be almost debilitating to students trying to focus and learn. Window film can fix this issue, it has the capability to reduce light transmittance which means it can actually block/reduce the amount of light that enters through a window without making the room dark and allowing the students to view the white board much easier. Window films also reject heat and aid in maintaining a more consistent interior temperature balancing out hot and cold spots throughout the building. Instead of using expensive blinds and other window coverings to block heat, window film can do all that without compromising visible light. This diminishes the requirement of round the clock artificial lighting use. The use of window film is also a more cost effective way to obtain energy savings in that it can act as insulation to an older window unit. Applying window film is a lot less expensive than replacing windows and still allows you to get the same energy control as new windows.

Window film applications on school windows is also a great way to achieve safety and security. In case of an explosion or other threat, window film will keep the glass in place and prevent flying glass shards from harming those inside the building. It strengthens the glass of windows and increases safety from potential accidents too. With specific window film applications, a school can receive an increase in privacy from outsiders or reduce the distractions a lot of students have from outside events. You can also protect your buildings windows from the effects of graffiti. There are specialty films that can be applied that can be easily removed and replaced if graffiti or etching occurs, this is definitely a great way to ensure that your school maintains its positive look and prevent the need for an expensive glass replacement.

Window film installation is extremely cost effective and has a return on investment. It takes only a day to install and does not disrupt classes. It is perfect for a school who is looking to stay on a budget and extend the life of their building. Going green with window film installation is a reliable, beneficial, energy efficient and cost effective way to achieve the ultimate renovation for your building. Understand, Follow and Keep Warranty to Avoid Future Hassles

The importance of understanding and keeping warranty documentation after a window installation or window film application.

Free Onsite Consultation with All American Window Tinting, Inc.

It is extremely important that you educate yourself before purchasing new windows or applying window film to your home or office. It is a must to be fully knowledgeable on how these types of warranties work. At All American Window Tinting, Inc., our professional installers offer a free consultation before performing any services. During this free consultation each respective customer is given in depth education pertaining to the replacement of windows or installation of window film. We are sure to provide all the necessary information and documentation that is needed when determining the best route to take with our services. We are honest and upfront. Our knowledge is backed by over 20 years of experience and professional specialized training. We carry various accreditation's that certify that we are indeed knowledgeable on all the services we perform. We are an A+ accredited BBB member, have received various awards, i.e. Angie's List Super Service Award, Denver Award for Automobile Glass Coating and Tinting, and have even been quoted in Window Film Magazine based on our expertise and superior customer service. Our customers are very loyal and have backed the quality of our work for many years. Check out all of our reviews to see for yourself. We give each customer the same positive special attention and are sure to provide them with adequate knowledge of our services, product, maintenance and warranty information. We believe that educating each individual that seeks our services deserves to be fully knowledgeable before any installation takes place. We give the peace of mind that our customers are entitled to, as the process of installation and warranty information is quite detailed.

Document Preservation for Both Window Replacement and Window Film Application

When meeting with our installer for the first time, be sure to take in all the information that is provided. But most importantly keep ALL documentation. This is important for future reference and keeping such documentation will ensure that any future issues that may arise are fully covered. Do so with any services you you receive from any company. The warranty you receive for any services that may have been rendered MUST be kept in a safe place; if it becomes lost, and you don't have the documentation to back up your claim for any future complaints, you may then be at a loss. This is something we warn each and every customer about; we try to prevent you from having issues when it comes to filing a claim. When it comes to filing a claim all warranty documentation is needed. Your name, address and date of installation must be present on the warranty; in order to ensure that it is valid and accepted by the manufacturer. Each warranty is different, the type of product, type of installation and date of installation all play a role in determining your warranty terms. Once a claim is filed, patience is much needed, as the process of submitting a warranty and waiting for approval and then getting replacement services or a refund could take up to  60 days. We work with the warranty departments of each manufacturer to ensure a speedy approval of your claim, but in some cases, dependent upon numerous variables, there is no telling on how long it could take for a claim to be approved. Each situation is different and is composed of various factors that determine the approval process.

Be Wise - Choose Wise

You, as a consumer, must be familiar with warranty terms when it comes to applying window film to your windows. Once a window film is applied, it renders the original window warranty invalid. But don't be alarmed, the window film comes with a warranty that will back up the original window unit warranty so, if for any reason seal failure occurs due to the application of the window film, the damage to your window unit will be covered. When choosing what company you are going to go with for your window film installation be sure to get all warranty information, and be sure your window film warranty covers your actual window unit. For example, if you choose All American Window Tinting, Inc., and you decided to go with a Huper Optik Window Film, the warranty states that:

"In the event glass failure and or seal failure due to thermal stress is caused only as a direct result of the application of the HUPER OPTIK window film, Huper Optik USA will:

1. Repair or Replace the broken glass.
2. Replace or repair that portion of the window frame in immediate contact with the glass, if damaged due to the break.
3. Replace such quantity of HUPER OPTIK film judged to be necessary by Huper Optik USA in its sole discretion.
4. Board up or cover openings caused by glass failure when replacement of glass is subject to unreasonable delay.
5. Repair or replace the seal, if damaged due to the break."

This proves that if the window film application were to cause seal failure or glass failure that the manufacturer, Huper Optik, would indeed provide the necessary means to replace or repair your window unit. There are other terms of the warranty that contribute to this coverage, for example, the age of the windows and how long the window film has actually been in place. Know the terms of your warranty and base your service/product selection on these terms and choose the recommendations that are provided to you. It's very important that you go with a professional for both types of installations to ensure a proper install and to maintain a warranty. It is very easy to be swindled, so educate yourself each and every time you meet with a company.
Once a warranty claim is approved, replacement of services and/or product will be awarded to you, and will be based on your individual warranty terms. No alterations or substitutions of any warranty can or will be made. All warranty approvals are done so by the manufacturer; the decision to approve your claim is solely done by the manufacturer and such decision is based on your reasoning, validity of the claim and terms of the warranty. The dealer/installer can ONLY validate the claim on your behalf to assist in the approval process. Once a issue arrives and a claim is made it is out of the hands of the dealer/installer and any award given is provided by the manufacturer.

Educate, Understand, Follow and Keep

Be sure to read through all of your warranty documentation and to follow any maintenance instructions provided to you. If proper actions are taken on your behalf your warranty will be sure to protect you. The importance of keeping such documentation can not be stressed enough. Read, educate and follow all instructions to be sure you get the protection you deserve.

High Altitude = Increased Exposure to Harmful UV Rays

In high altitudes and in winter, the sun's UV rays are increased. Exposure is increased because of the decreased atmosphere and because the UV rays reflect and/or bounce off the snow. When elevation increases so does the sun's strength. The thinner atmosphere absorbs less UV rays, allowing them to pass through to the Earth much easier and with much more power, this greatly increases the risk of exposure. When living or vacationing in high altitudes, it is extremely important that you take extra precautions to protect yourself from the sun's harmful UV rays. UVA rays, account for up to 95 percent of UV rays that reach the Earth’s surface, they penetrate deeper into skin, cause wrinkles, and are the culprit for melanoma, the most deadly skin cancer. In the winter, many places have an abundance of snow, when the sun's UVA rays bounce off the snow it creates an effect similar to being at the beach. These rays can be very intense and act the same throughout the year penetrating clouds and even glass. Even just a few minutes of sun exposure during the day, overtime, these minutes add up and can cause noticeable changes to the skin, such as freckles, age spots, spider veins on the face, blotchy complexion, and fine wrinkles. According to Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic, "UVA rays are not affected by changes in temperature and will penetrate deep into skin layers, potentially causing long-term damage to the skin". From repeated exposure to the sun's harmful rays, this photo aging process is inevitable and the only way to prevent it is by shielding yourself from the sun. Use a stronger sunblock during the winter months and in higher altitude. Avoid direct sunlight,  seek shade when the sun is hottest and wear protective clothing, hats and sunglasses.
Most importantly, protect yourself in all that you do. The most neglected areas of concern is when you are driving in your vehicle or sitting in your home or office. Many people feel that their glass alone is is enough protection from the sun's harmful rays. Boy are they wrong. Glass can actually magnify the effects of the sun most notably called the greenhouse effect. It can make a home, office or vehicle's interior far hotter. The UV rays are still permeating inside and are coming in contact with you and the things you love most. Protect yourself from the damaging rays of the sun with window film applications on your home, office or vehicle. Window film can block up to 99% of UV rays! With this added precaution you can receive the protection that you deserve all year round. Take preventative action now, you can never be too safe, make the necessary changes to protect against UV rays passing through your glass. At All American Window Tinting, Inc., we provide professional window film installations for your home, office or vehicle. Take advantage of the benefits that window film has to offer and call our office today at 303-936-1362 and start protecting the things you love most!

FACTS FOR THOUGHT - According to Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic
Higher altitudes mean dramatically more UV radiation - For every 1,000 feet you climb in altitude, UV radiation increase 4%. This fact is especially important to all you skiers and snow boarders wearing just a knit stocking cap. Both brimmed winter sun hat and broad spectrum face sunscreen is crucial to your sun safety.

You Can Have Flawless Window Film with a Warranty to Last a Lifetime

When it comes to residential, commercial or automotive window tinting, it is always best to choose an expert authorized window film installer. Not only will you receive a flawless application, you will have protection for years and years to come. Authorized window film installers are just that, authorized. When choosing to go with a professional you are sure to get a quality product and a superior installation, all of which is backed by a window film manufacturer warranty and a labor warranty as well. This warranty ensures that if any defect occurs with the product, replacement is free of charge. Having a window film warranty in place actually picks up the glass manufacturing warranty, so if any glass breakage of the window occurs (due to the application of the window film),  the new warranty will pick up any damages within 3 years of the installation as long as proof of the original glass manufacturer warranty is presented with name, address and year of installation. It is extremely important that all documentation is saved for future presentation if needed.
If you choose to go the route of installing the film yourself, the quality of the application will NOT meet your expectations AND it will NOT come with a warranty. The only way to receive and maintain a warranty is by going with a professional installation. To reap the many benefits of an expert, authorized window film installation contact us, All American Window Tinting, Inc., at 303-936-1362, we are sure to get the job done right and provide you with the piece of mind and protection you deserve! Get Quality You Can Trust

Does your automobile have old tint? There are several ways of knowing. Window film has been around for quite a bit and many people have sought for window tint applications on their vehicles to reduce heat, glare, reject heat and enhance the aesthetics of their vehicles. But many of the films that existed did not stand the test of time. Instead, most films only offered approximately 3 years of supreme coverage, and would eventually turn purple, bubble, peel, blister and crack. Even today you can still see vehicles on the road with this unsightly window film still in place. Due to great advancements in window film technology, color-stable window films hit the market. These new films were a break through in the world of window tint. Those who have been driving around for years with old unsightly window tint can now remove and redo those windows with a new application of color-stable window films.

These films are high performing, and are made without any dyes. They are nano-carbon polyester films and contain no metal! This makeup allows for premium heat rejection and does not interfere with radio and satellite signals. These films have a very stylish look, and are guaranteed to not turn purple, bubble, peel, blister, or crack. The darker the shade selected the greater rejection of solar heat from visible light transmission. So great, that 57% of heat will be blocked from entering your vehicle. Glare is then reduced dramatically, allowing only 5% to 50% of visible light into your car. This is a huge change from older films that are still available on the market. Be sure to ask all the necessary questions when shopping around for window film installation.

When selecting your choice of window film, be sure to select a lifetime warranted film, this way you can have endless years of protection, with a sleek look. If you are one who is driving around town with old purple tint you can contact us, All American Window Tinting, Inc. at 303-936-1362, we will remove that old unsightly tint and redo your vehicles windows with an application of our 3M, Huper Optik or Llumar High Performing Color Stable Window Films. Our products are so great that we stand by the manufacturers warranty, offering free labor services if your window film has any defects after installation. We pride ourselves in quality craftsmanship and provide only the best product and customer service.

The Culprit Behind Seal Failed Windows

Have you taken a look at your windows lately? Many people have homes and businesses that carry the scars of seal failure. Below you will find pertinent information about seal failure in windows, what to look for to determine whether or not you are experiencing seal failure, how its caused and ways to avoid it!

What is Seal Failure?

Windows are commonly called dual pane windows, insulated glass (IG) windows, thermal windows, or just sealed units. They are made up of 2 or more sheets of glass that are separated by a spacer and sealant system, creating a sealed airspace. If a break occurs anywhere in this seal along the edge, moisture can become trapped between the two glass sheets (panes). The specific point of failure is not normally seen because the seal itself is actually inside the frame of the window.

Indications of Seal Failure
(seen between the 2 glass panes of the unit)
- Condensation, fogginess or haziness
- Standing water
- Flaky rust particles
- Dirt fragments

Causes of Premature Seal Failure
-Poor design of the unit
-Poor workmanship during fabrication
-Poor frame design

Main Causes of Seal Failure

-Aged Units (10 or more years old)
-Low quality windows to reduce construction costs
-The use of a hose or pressure washer can flood the seal
-Drastic temperature changes that cause the window panes to expand and contract
-Any movement of the structure (examples; settling, severe weather)
- Sunlight can actually deteriorate the seal itself
- Constant exposure to water
-Manufacturing errors

Resolution - IG Unit Replacement

The source of the seal failure is quite difficult to find and even more difficult to fix, due to the variety of pieces that come together to create the actual unit. It is a rather challenging task to fix this issue correctly, that is why replacement of the actual unit is always best. Don't get stuck with a DIY tragedy. All American Window Tinting, Inc., is made up of a team of highly trained professionals that are ready to get the job done right!

Tips

In order to maintain the value and dependability of your windows, you must follow proper maintenance and care instructions. No one window is perfect and even if you follow all of the guidelines for your windows seal failure can still occur. Tips to Avoid Seal Failure: 1.  Keep weep (drainage) holes clean and free of any contamination. 2. Do NOT place any object in, on or too close to the window's glass, doing so can trap excessive amounts of heat between the window panes causing seal failure (even drapery and blinds that are mounted too close can cause seal failure.) 3. Always, always, always keep record of your window's warranty and any and all information received from manufacturer and company who installed the actual unit.

Typical Signs of Seal Failure

Did You Know?

A. William Lingnell, an engineer of Lingnell Consulting Services and the technical consultant to the Sealed Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association (SIGMA) conducted tests to see the effect of window film on windows. He concludes that based on testing conducted on window units, window film has no observable effect on the performance of high quality manufactured insulated units. Six units with film and six units without film were selected for his accelerated weathering test and two for the fog test, the testing proved that there was no observable differences between the two tests. This testing shows that the installation, manufacturing, and quality of the installed units plays a vital role in determining whether or not the the seals will fail with the use of window film. So if your looking to get window film installation on a new install of an IG Unit, rest assured that the combination of both would bring great value and benefits to your home or office.
